The Verger

The verger written by W.S Maugham is very entertaining and easy to understand.This story tells us how a person who is not even educated can be successful in life.The verger was able to seize the opportunity that came before him at the right time and that is what made him successful.The story of the verger ends with a line that "if I was educated i would have been a verger in the church".This line in my opinion is a little humorous as it tells us that if the protagonist of the story had been educated then he might have not become as successful as he was now .This tells us that education can not always make you successful ,and there are other factors also that help you to become successful. This  message has been conveyed  very clearly  by the author through the story of the verger.
