'The Portrait of a Lady' by Khushwant Singh

This story by Khushwant Singh is a good story.
He describes her grandmother and her nature. He describes how the grandmother adapts herself to the type of environment she was taken to,which was opposite to the one in which she lived. The nature of the grandmother was calm and kind. The grandmother didn't even complain or demand when she was taken to city.Despite of the generation gap between the boy and grandmother , there was special bond between both of them.Khushwant Singh also added homor. It is a heart touching story.

  1. Nitin, you could have expressed your opinions about the story elaborately. The brevity of the review hurts.

  2. Though what Nitin has written may be short but it gives the reader an elaborate idea of this story.

    1. With all due respect i disagree. How can a person decipher the plot or create an image in his mind about the story with such a small description?. Provided when there is so much to write about.

    2. Sometimes even a few words can express something way beyond your understanding. Just like Kushwant Singh and his grandmother in this story were never seen saying affectionate words but the power in the reader finds a deep sense of affection while reading this story.

  4. I definitely agree with Divyank......I think Nitin has somewhat not been able to totally express his views on the story.....what Amberish says is I think in the favour of his dear friend.....but still I would now expect from Nitin to write a little bit more on our next shortstory "THE VERGER".....

    2. I am not trying to be rude with anyone and my opinion has not been corrupted by the fact that Nitin is my fiend . I just wrote my own opinion.
